Our Journey

From a simple idea to helping people connect in Bangalore

How It All Started

Back in 2010, Bangalore was changing fast. Every day, new tech companies were opening offices, and people from all over India and the world were moving here for work. I was working in a regular office job, but something felt off. The city was full of people, but everyone seemed so alone.

I used to walk around MG Road in the evenings, just watching people. You'd see these smart, successful people - engineers, managers, business owners - but they looked lost somehow. They had money, good jobs, nice clothes, but their eyes told a different story. They were lonely.

One evening, I saw this guy in a fancy suit sitting alone at a coffee shop, staring at his phone. He looked like he had everything, but he was eating dinner by himself. That's when it hit me - success doesn't mean you're happy. These people needed someone to talk to, someone to share their day with.

The Lightbulb Moment

My friend Rajesh moved to Bangalore for a job at a big tech company. He was making good money, had a nice apartment, but when we met for coffee, he looked miserable. "Man, I'm so lonely here," he told me. "I work all day, go home to an empty apartment, and on weekends I just sit around. Dating apps are weird, and I don't know how to meet people in this city."

That got me thinking. Rajesh wasn't the only one feeling this way. I started talking to more people - colleagues, neighbors, people I met at cafes. Everyone had the same problem. They were successful, smart, had good jobs, but they were missing something basic - human connection.

I realized there was a real need here. People wanted someone to talk to, someone to go out with, someone who would actually listen to them. Not a girlfriend or boyfriend necessarily, just someone nice to spend time with. Someone who could make them feel less alone in this big, busy city.

Starting Small, Thinking Big

The first few months were tough. I had this idea, but I didn't know how to make it work. I knew that trust was everything - people had to feel safe and comfortable. So I started very carefully, meeting with potential team members one by one.

I wasn't just looking for pretty faces. I wanted people who were smart, kind, and actually cared about others. Someone who could have a real conversation, not just look good. I turned down a lot of people who didn't get what I was trying to do. This wasn't about quick money - it was about creating something real.

We started with just three people. Three amazing women who understood the vision. They weren't just working for money; they believed in what we were building. Slowly, word started spreading. People would meet our team and tell their friends. "You have to try this - it's different."

Getting to Know Our People

As we grew, I started really understanding who our clients were. They weren't just looking for someone pretty to hang out with - they wanted someone who could actually talk to them, someone who would listen and understand. Most of them were successful people - engineers, managers, business owners - but they were lonely.

Some were from other cities, here for work and feeling lost in Bangalore. Others lived here but worked such long hours they never had time to meet people. Some were going through tough times - divorce, job changes, family problems - and just needed someone to talk to.

Everyone was different. Some wanted to go to fancy restaurants and parties, others just wanted to sit and talk over coffee. Some wanted to explore the city, others wanted to stay in and watch movies. We learned to match people based on what they actually needed, not just what they thought they wanted.

How We Think

From day one, I had a simple rule: treat every meeting like it matters. Not in a romantic way, but like you're meeting a real person who deserves your time and attention. Both people should walk away feeling better than when they started.

I believe that being good company is actually a skill. You need to be smart, kind, and able to talk to anyone about anything. Our team members aren't just pretty faces - they're educated, interesting people who can chat about work, travel, books, movies, whatever. They're the kind of people you'd actually want to be friends with.

I also believe in taking care of our team. They're not just employees to me - they're people I care about. I help them grow, learn new things, and feel good about what they do. When they're happy and confident, they do better work, and everyone benefits.

Growing with the City

As Bangalore became the tech capital of India, we grew with it. New companies kept opening offices, people from all over the world kept moving here, and the city kept changing. Every change brought new people who needed what we offered.

The tech boom brought a whole new type of client - young, smart people who worked for big companies but felt lost in the city. They were used to international ways of thinking but didn't know how to connect with people here. They loved that our team members could speak multiple languages and understand different cultures.

We started doing more things - business dinners, company parties, even traveling with clients. Our team got really good at fitting into any situation, whether it was a traditional Indian wedding or a fancy corporate event. They could talk to anyone, anywhere.

Meet Our Team

LILLY isn't just a business - it's like a family. Our team members come from all kinds of backgrounds. Some are students working on their degrees, others are artists, writers, or professionals who like the flexibility this work gives them. What they all have in common is that they're good people who actually care about others.

Take Priya, for example. She's been with us for years. She has an MBA and speaks four languages. She started working with us while building her own consulting business, and she found that the people skills she developed here actually helped her in business too. Now she's a successful entrepreneur, but she still works with some of our clients because she genuinely likes the connections she's made.

Then there's Anisha, who moved here from Europe with her husband. She's really smart and well-educated, but she found regular jobs too boring. Through LILLY, she gets to meet interesting people from all over the world while keeping her independence. Her international background makes her really popular with clients who are also from other countries.

Keeping Everyone Safe

Over the years, we've built really strong safety systems to protect both our clients and our team. We check everyone's background carefully, use secure ways to communicate, and make sure everything stays private. We've invested in good technology that keeps records safe while protecting everyone's privacy.

Privacy isn't just a rule for us - it's something we really believe in. We know our clients often have important jobs and reputations to protect. Everything we do, from the first phone call to the follow-up, is designed to keep things private and safe.

We've worked with all kinds of people - big company executives, celebrities, regular professionals - and everyone gets the same level of care and privacy. In over ten years, we've never had a single problem with privacy or safety. That's something we're really proud of.

What's Next

As we move forward, LILLY keeps growing and changing. The pandemic taught us how important human connection really is. During lockdowns, we started offering video calls and online chats to help people stay connected when they couldn't meet in person. This showed us that technology can help people connect, but it can't replace real human interaction.

We're also doing more things now. Some of our team members help with things like meditation, language learning, and cultural advice. People don't just want someone to hang out with - they want someone who can help them grow and learn too.

Today, LILLY works all over Bangalore. We have good relationships with nice hotels, restaurants, and cultural places throughout the city. We've become part of Bangalore's social scene while staying true to what we believe in - treating people well, keeping things private, and creating real connections.
